empireawardThe Jameson Empire Awards 2010 were presented on 28 March at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, and were hosted by Dara O’Briain. Jamy are pleased to be involved with The Jameson Empire Awards 2010, as they have been for previous years. The ceremony had some leading names including Gwyneth Paltrow, Ian McKellen, Jude Law, Patrick Stewart, Guy Ritchie and Simon Pegg in attendance. Avatar scooped the top prizes with awards for Best Film, Best Director (James Cameron) and Best Actress (Zoe Saldana). Sam Worthington, who starred as James Sully in the film, accepted the awards on behalf of the winners.

Sherlock Holmes proved the ultimate in crowd pleasing thrills and action-packed adventure, with the film winning Best Thriller. The Award was collected by director Guy Ritchie who was joined on stage by cast members Mark Strong and Jude Law. The brilliantly intense Brit vigilante crime flick Harry Brown won Best British Film (presented by, with director Daniel Barber accepting the Award.

Aaron Johnson, who starred as a young John Lennon in Nowhere Boy, beat rivals to be voted Best Newcomer (presented by Kiss 100) and the incredibly talented Christoph Waltz was honoured with this year’s Best Actor Award (presented by Citroën) for his role in Inglourious Basterds.

This year’s award for Outstanding Contribution To British Film was deservedly dedicated to actor Ray Winstone, whose roles in film span from an early career role in Quadrophenia to his award-winning turn in Nil By Mouth. Audiences have enjoyed his broad range of performances in both independent and mainstream films including Sexy Beast, The War Zone, The Departed and 44 Inch Chest and Jameson and Empire Magazine couldn’t have been happier to bestow him with the award.
